This is a grand adventure if you like sci-fi, adventure, mystery and romance. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for book 2! The pace is great and really moves, along with good main character growth.

The Fifth Watcher is an adrenaline raising game of cat and mouse where the stakes are high right from the start and the action just keeps you turning the page. Melissa Barker-Simpson take the alternate realities theory and turns it on its head while keeping the focus clear and the suspense insatiable.

Barker-Simpson’s ability to transition new information and events without confusion shows just how palpable the trust between author and reader can become. The intrigue and mysterious nature of the events unfolds at a rapid but teasing pace where only what you need to know at the time is revealed – it’s just enough to get the heart beating to a different drum.

Overall, I must admit that Melissa Barker-Simpson makes a fascinating scientific idea truly remarkable. I devoured one chapter after another with wanton abandon.

With The Fifth Watcher, Barker-Simpson has crafted a world packed full of excitement and intrigue. The pace is relentless, with the story driving forwards at all times, and though the concept could easily have resulted in a confusing read, the approachable writing and likable characters prevent this and instead serve to keep you hooked. The dual perspective also added another dimension to the tale and worked very well.

There's action, friendship, mystery, awesome sci-fi elements and steamy romance, all cleverly weaved into the plot. It's a book you will fly through and be glad you did.
